--- USCG Courses Taught by Dyess Maritime ---
LOCATION: U.S. Coast Guard Licensing courses are taught in our Grapevine, Texas, classroom located very
close to the intersection of Highways 114, 121 and 360.
TIME: OUPV training is conducted from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays for four weekends.
A break is scheduled between each weekend of instruction. In the past, we scheduled classes on consecutive
weekends. However, a common comment on student end-of-course critiques has been that more study time is
required for the Rules and Navigation portions in order to obtain a deeper level of understanding prior to the
examinations. Nonetheless, we have repeated been asked to teach a one-week class for those students who
must travel a long distance or can not attend classes for four weekends. Therefore, we will offer one special
OUPV class that begins on Saturday, May 9, 2009 and ends Sunday, May 17, 2009. The instruction in this
class will be very intense with only two study days during the week. However, those two study days will be
supervised by an instructor thus students will be able to ask questions.
The Master Mariner training requires an additional three days: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Friday, Saturday and
Sunday.
USCG LICENSE ENDORSEMENTS: We also provide various endorsements to your license such as
Commercial Assistance Towing and Auxiliary Sail. Questions concerning these endorsements will be answered
in detail during the first class session. If you are interested, you may register for them at that time.
FIRST AID AND CPR: American Red Cross First Aid and CPR training is conducted from 6:00 PM to 9:00
PM on the second Saturday of each OUPV Course. Attendance is NOT restricted to those registered in the
OUPV course.
COSTS: The price of the OUPV course is $595. This amount includes your tuition, books, training materials
and USCG examination fees. Required plotting instruments are provided on a loan basis at no charge. They are
also available for purchase if you so desire. We require a deposit of $300 to hold a seat for you in the class. All
